This article relates to the factory reset process for Scout Travel. For Scout Bike, head here.
To correctly remove the Scout Travel from your phone - if transferring to another user or moving your Scout Travel to a new phone - or if a fresh start is needed for some other reason, follow the process below. If you are having trouble with your Scout Travel but are unsure of whether or not to perform a reset, please reach out to our customer service team prior to attempting this process and we will be happy to assist and confirm if this is the best course of action.
If your Scout cannot be disarmed and you believe a factory reset is required, please reach out to our customer service team for assistance.
Please follow the below process precisely to factory reset your Scout Travel. Failure to follow this process as outlined will result in a failed reset attempt, signaled by a either a dull two beep tone, or a three beep tone where the third beep is of a differing pitch. If this happens, please begin again from step 3.

Remove the Scout from phones Bluetooth device list
A. Open iOS->Settings->Bluetooth, and find the Scout Travel connection and select the marker next to the connection. If you have more than one Scout Travel, move to a position where only the Scout Travel you would like to remove is in range and shown as connected (this will avoid accidentally removing the wrong Scout Travel!).
B. Select Forget This Device.

Remove the Scout from the Knog app
A. Open the Knog app, and remove the Scout you wish to reset by clicking on the Scouts device settings, and then Remove at the bottom of the options list.

Remove Scout Travel from Find My network
A. Open the Find My app, and select the Scout you would like to remove.B. Scroll down, and select the Remove Item option and remove the Scout. The Knog Scout is no longer registered with Find My after this step.

Factory Reset the Scout
A. Place the Scout on its side with the USB-C port facing upwards as shown below:
B. Press and hold the button and at the same time, connect the Scout to power via a USB-C cable. Continue to hold the button for 10 seconds until three long identical beeps are heard. If you hear any other tone, please remove the USB-C cable and try again until you hear the correct tone.
A dull two beep tone, or a three beep tone where the third beep is of a differing pitch indicates that the reset was not successful.
C. When you hear the correct tone, the factory reset is complete and you can now set the Scout Travel up again as a new device as outlined in the user guide.
